Lady dies trying to save her... cat?

I'm sorry to say, I am almost at a loss here. Here it is, almost 11:30 pm pst and I come across something that is so bizare, I had to write about it tonight. Strangely, this story wasn't found directly on CNN, but from a regional link:

Used from http://www.cannibalflower.comLOUISVILLE -- A woman died in a house fire after going back inside to try to save her cat, her neighbors said Thursday morning.

The blaze began shortly before 1 a.m. in the 7500 block of Lake Louisvilla Drive, in Oldham County, WLKY NewsChannel 32's Stephanie Segretto reported.

The couple who lived in the house initially got out safely, but the woman ran back inside as her husband was next door seeking help.

"He came over around 12:30 a.m., pounding on the door, saying, 'Call 911; the house is on fire,'" neighbor Sandy Bonds said. "They were both out at the time, but by the time he got back, she'd gone in to try to get the cat. He tried to help, but couldn't get back in."

The woman was found dead on the second floor, at the top of the stairs. The cat was found in the basement.

Investigators are trying to determine what caused the blaze.

Well ain't that just peachy. Here I am complaining about someone using Grand Theft Auto as an excuse to kill some cops, and this lady just blows that out of the water by dying, for her cat...

Can you just imagine what was going through her mind at the time and what part of it ignored common sense...

Thought Process:

FIRE!!! --> Find husband --> Get the hell out!!! --> Oh look, my husband is going to get help. (*MEOW MEOW*) --> OHMIGOD FIFI!!! --> Can't... breath... --> Maybe I shouldn't hav... ... ...

So yeah... Sad as it maybe, this person definitely deserves at least honorable mention in Idiotic-America's Hall of Shame (yeah, whatever, it's nearing 12 am, you come up with a better name).

A follow-up to this story was posted on the same website.

Life is a video game; everybody has to die sometime

Back after about 3 months of rest, we have decided to get more writers and start again. If you are interested in becoming regular contributor, please email our editor.

This gem is too good to pass up. America finally seems to have done something partly right this time. CNN ran a story today called, "Jury convicts video game defense killer":

FAYETTE, Alabama (AP) -- A 20-year-old whose lawyers claimed the video game "Grand Theft Auto" and childhood abuse caused him to kill three small-town police officers was convicted Tuesday of capital murder.

The jury deliberated for just over an hour before convicting Devin Moore.

Jurors were to return Wednesday to begin the sentencing phase. Moore could face the death penalty.

Defense lawyers had partly blamed Moore's actions on the hours he spent playing video games from the "Grand Theft Auto" series, in which players shoot police officers and steal cars.

While the judge barred jurors from hearing testimony linking the 2003 shootings to the game, defense lawyer Jim Standridge reminded them that Moore, after his arrest, told police "Life is a video game; everybody has to die sometime."

Moore had pleaded not guilty and not guilty by reason of mental defect.

His family and friends left court without comment, while the victims' relatives and friends gathered to hug and thank prosecutors.

Prosecutor Lyn Durham said Tuesday that Moore knew what he was doing when he grabbed a patrolman's gun and killed two officers and a radio dispatcher.

"And he knew it was wrong," she said.

Officers had taken Moore to police headquarters for booking on a stolen auto charge. Authorities said Moore, who was 18 at the time, grabbed one of the officer's guns and fatally shot all three victims in the head before fleeing in a patrol car.

The victims' families have filed a civil suit against the video game manufacturer and two stores, claiming Moore killed the three after repeatedly playing "Grand Theft Auto III" and "Grand Theft Auto: Vice City." No trial date has been set in the civil lawsuit.

A spokesman for Take-Two Interactive Software, Inc., parent company of "Grand Theft Auto" manufacturer Rockstar Games, did not immediately return calls Tuesday seeking comment.

The Jury seems to be one of the smarter ones in recent history with the verdict of "not guilty" to the obviously perverted white woman Jackson. Well, I guess since this guy isn't famous, he doesn't get the perks as Jackson does such as writhing through a bed of kids dressed only in a thong and covered in baby oil.

The victims' families have filed a civil suit against the video game manufacturer and two stores, claiming Moore killed the three after repeatedly playing "Grand Theft Auto III" and "Grand Theft Auto: Vice City." No trial date has been set in the civil lawsuit.

Ok, I was all excited about this story until I read that. So the families decide, "Oh, since these jurors obviously don't see that GTA was the cause of this, let's completely go against the justice our officers could have ever gotten from this trial and file a civil suit against the very defense that lost the trial in the first place." Jesus...

There it goes, any possible faith that America was turning around has just hit the ground. Why did the story have to say that? Now I am even more jaded than I was 3 months ago when I stopped writing for this website. I guess it just goes to prove that we indeed want money over justice ala Kobe Bryant trial.
